WHAT EXACTLY IS SKYVIEW® LITE?
SkyView is a fantastic program that will greatly improve your experience stargazing for users of all experience levels and ability levels.
In order to find different constellations, planets, star clusters, stars, and other celestial bodies in the night sky, you may utilize the camera on your smartphone with the free augmented reality (AR) software SkyView Free for iOS and Android smartphones. HOW DOES SKYVIEW® LITE WORK?
Launch
SkyView will ask you for a number of permissions when you first start the app, including permission to use your camera and its position. The software will then take you through how to calibrate your smartphone and use its features. It’s not required to utilize SkyView at night; once the program has really opened, your surroundings are overlaid with a night sky.
I could hardly make out anything of my surroundings on the app because it was dark outdoors. A bit disconcerting, but not too horrible, was the fact that the star chart continued over the horizon. I also had limited visibility of the actual stars because I live so near to the city and there was a lot of light pollution.
Personalize
The only options are internal app settings that control how many stars you can view and how big the planets look on your screen. Along with deactivating the app’s music and star trajectories, you can also shoot pictures and videos. A calendar capability is also available, which may be used to determine an object’s location at a specific time and date. Even though it turns everything red, night mode doesn’t actually accomplish anything. You may enable this option to make the area very dark.
Without being either overdone or underdone, the visuals are excellent and informative. You can identify which stars are in a constellation by the lines that link them, and you can see the direction an object is moving by the dotted orbits. Consider going outside on a weekday if you don’t have anything planned to improve your sense of connection to the sky by utilizing SkyView.
