WHAT IS ARRIVECAN APP?
The Canadian government runs the free online resource known as ArriveCAN. Before and after entering Canada, it enables tourists to securely transmit all necessary travel information, such as their COVID-19 evidence of immunization and quarantine information.
Through their website or by installing the ArriveCAN app for iOS or Android, you may access ArriveCAN.
HOW DOES ARRIVECAN WORK?
In the 72 hours before to their arrival in Canada, travelers must make sure they input their information using the app. You will be prompted to accept the terms of service, log in, or create an account when you first install and access the app.
You will be prompted by the app to provide your contact details and a location description for the 14-day quarantine. You will also be required to complete a COVID-19 symptom self evaluation and provide information regarding your travel history and recent travel destinations.
Except in cases where they are exempt from quarantine, air travelers will also be required to present the trip reference code generated after making reservations for their three-day stay at the quarantine hotel.
Additionally, travelers will be required to upload any pertinent documentation via the app, such as their COVID-19 test outcomes. This includes travelers who have had all necessary vaccinations, who will be allowed to upload their vaccination receipt using the app once the quarantine requirements for these travelers loosen on July 5.
Provided you’re traveling in a group or with your family, you may submit the information for up to eight individuals at once if everyone will be staying at the same place throughout the quarantine period.
An officer from Canadian Border Services will request to view your ArriveCAN receipt when you arrive. This can be shown as a paper, on the screen of your phone via an app, as a screenshot, or in an email.
You may use the app to check in every day throughout your quarantine period, report any symptoms, and confirm that you’ve arrived at your quarantine site.
On their eighth day in quarantine, travelers must additionally submit to another COVID-19 test. The app will prompt you to confirm if you underwent testing on day 8 and day 9 of your quarantine period.
