What is YOUTRIP?
YouTrip, a multi-currency mobile wallet that also contains a pre-paid Mastercard, was introduced in 2018 and enables users to pay in more than 150 currencies while you’re traveling overseas or buying online without paying currency conversion costs. YouTrip’s software lets you convert and save 10 different currencies, giving online shoppers, vacationers, and business travelers the ability to lock in low rates whenever they need them.
Here’s How The YouTrip Card Works
YouTrip is a service that consists of two parts that you will use: your mobile wallet, which you can access and control on-app, and the actual YouTrip card, which enables contactless payments over the Mastercard network.
YouTrip is a mobile wallet, not a credit card, so before you can use it to pay for anything, you’ll need to top it up with a credit or debit card. If you’re a regular traveler or user, you should also be aware that there is a $5,000 restriction on the total amount you may have on hand at any time, whether it be in Singapore Dollars or one of the approved foreign currencies. Additional restrictions include a $30,000 annual transaction cap.
After adding money to your YouTrip wallet, you may use your YouTrip card to pay in any of the 150 accepted currencies without paying any additional fees; the foreign currency conversion will take place at the point of sale.
The 10 accepted currencies are SGD, USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, HKD, AUD, NZD, CHF, and SEK. YouTrip also lets you monitor, exchange from SGD, and save these currencies. Payments and conversions are free of further charges.
A withdrawal fee of $5 or the equivalent in another currency will be charged per transaction when using your YouTrip card to withdraw money from any international Mastercard, Maestro, or Cirrus ATMs outside of Singapore.
