WHAT IS HANGOUTS?

Initiate and take part in text, audio, or video conversations with other users individually or in groups using Google Hangouts, a unified communications tool. Gmail and Google+ both include Hangouts, and iOS and Android mobile devices may also access Hangouts through applications.

Google Hangouts may potentially be a useful and economical medium for cooperation for customers in the business world. Additionally, Google+ users may stream video conversations live on YouTube using the Google Hangouts on Air feature of Hangouts. A popular free platform for businesses to host online talks and seminars is called Hangouts on Air.

The former built-in chat features of Google+, Gmail, and the standalone Google Talk app have been replaced with Google Hangouts. Users of Google Voice may make free domestic phone calls from their computing devices thanks to the integration of Hangouts and Google Voice. Google Chat will take the role of Hangouts in Gmail starting in 2020. Google recommends using Chats as an instant messaging option rather than Hangouts.

HOW TO USE GOOGLE HANGOUTS

  1. Open Hangouts

Simply visit this link in your browser to begin a Google Hangouts session: https://hangouts.google.com (opens in new tab). Simply said, it’s simple. To start a session, you must sign in to your Google account if you haven’t already.

  1. Start messaging

Simply choose the contact’s name from the list of contacts that displays after clicking the Message icon in Hangouts to send them a message. Alternatively, you may use the search box at the top of the sidebar to hunt for them if their name, phone number, or email address aren’t shown in the list.

  1. Make a video call

A different window will open when you click the symbol for a video call. To contact someone, enter their name or email address in the Invite People dialog box, and then choose the person(s) from the menu that appears below. You can add more than one person. Click the green “Invite” button now. After being informed of your call, the intended recipient(s) can decide whether to pick it up (or decline).

  1. Video call basics

You’ll get to video chat when the intended receiver accepts the call, so chitchat away to your heart’s delight. The major controls are located at the bottom of the screen and function as follows: you may end the conversation by pressing the red button in the center, mute the microphone by pressing the button to the left, and turn off your camera by pressing the button to the right.
